the reason for the preferation of mp3 might be that you owe an ipod, which means – as long as you don’t hack linux or netbsd onto it
– that you can’t play ogg 
I’ve just switched to OGG for podcasts themselves, because after change over to Ubuntu making MP3s bacame a pain in the ass.
